Music Program

A Great Summer Experience!*

Summer Program promises to be our best yet! Students will write an original song, play in Ensemble Workshops, record, see their instructors performing daily, and much more. As with all programs at the CIMA Academy, our small, friendly environment and personal attention combined with daily playing/singing gives the student the most focused style-specific musical training possible in one week.

Session I: Rock, Funk, & Blues

  • Instruction and Band Workshops
  • Recording Studio and Student Concert

Session II: Jazz, Fusion, & Latin

  • Instruction and Band Workshops
  • Recording Studio and Student Concert

Each program will be a great musical experience that gives students a snapshot of what life is like at the CIMA Music Academy. It will include the following:

Band Workshops
Students will be placed in bands based on audition results, level, and interests. They will work each day writing an original song that will be performed at the final concert on the 5th day. Each band will record their song on the 5th day and will be sent a CD after the program. Teachers of each instrument will mentor each band member.

Ensemble Workshops (Drums, Guitar, Bass and Vocals)
Each day, students will have the opportunity to perform with local professionals in Ensemble Workshops.

Playing Techniques (Drums, Guitar, Bass and Vocals)

In the Playing Techniques class, students will study basic techniques related to their instrument. An LA Music Academy faculty member will teach each class.

Private Lesson (Drums, Guitar, Bass and Vocals)

Each student will get one private lesson with a CIMA’s faculty member. The lesson will be one half hour and will address the student’s individual needs and questions.

Jazz, Fusion, and Latin Styles (Session II ONLY – Drums, Guitar, Bass and Vocals)

This is a one hour lecture class for each style that will discuss the specific elements of these styles. Students will listen to a lecture and playing examples from the artists who shaped each style.
Recording Studio
Students will have the opportunity to record their original song at a recording studio. A copy of the recording will be sent to each student after the program.
